Barron Scott is the owner and artist of Cross Builders and has
retired to Alabama following a railroad career. Barron has been
involved in a ministry called Builders for Christ. He started the
ministry over 25 years ago. The builders give up a week of their
vacation each year to build church buildings for churches who need
new space, but have been unable to afford it. The volunteer groups
do most of the building, thus saving the churches a lot of money in
labor. Now, Barron is actively building crosses. Building horseshoe
nail and wooden crosses began as a way to relax, but has become a
ministry for him. He shares them with friends and markets them to
fund local church building programs. He often does this in memory or
in honor of others.
